 [When Aya's face appears on the Network, there's something different about it.  Usually, she addresses the masses with her impassive, neutral expression and tone.  But today?  Today, there is a tiny, but noticeable spark of...something in her eyes.]

[Her blue, hopeful eyes.]

This is Green Lantern Aya, reporting in.  The signal is unencrypted for maximum availability, but can be transferred to a more secure channel upon request.

[She pauses for a moment, as if deliberating something.]

Interceptor, do you read me?  Hal Jordan?  Sergeant Kilowag?  [Then, in a slightly softer tone:] ...Razer?

Wall-E looks down] Do you live in there? Is that your function?

I am unfamiliar with this Dolly. And while my physical appearance may share similar features with that of a being from Earth, I am not human. I am not even organic.

[His question confuses her for a moment]

I do not understand. Are you referring to the Barge?

...You're a robot? [staarrres. And then] what's the barge?

[looksfine]

Yes.

[She does not mind the staring.]

The Barge is a large ship in which prisoners are sent for rehabilitation. I am what is known as a Warden.

Like the Buy-in-Large Starliner?

[looksfine]

I am unfamiliar with that particular ship.

[trashcompactor]

[By way of response, Wall-E picks up the device gingerly, oh so Gingerly and carries it to one of the plexi-screens above the trash.

There, she can watch the whole story. Mankind's over-consumerism, the wall-E units, how they left him behind so he could clean up the mess and retreated to the stars]

[A story which her high processing speeds are able to catalogue and comprehend near instantaneously. Though her expression does not change, as she lacks the experiential empathy to fully understand the sadness...her shoulders have slumped by the time the video is completed. Her tone, softer than before.]

Why? [Wall-E understands loneliness. Isolation, but now. You're here] We can speak now that you are here. and I can do my job.

[looksfine]

Your planet was destroyed. It is why you have been so lonely.

..This is not destroyed.

[wall-E doesn't understand] I can fix it!

It is covered in trash. There are no signs of a populace.

...may I ask what planet this is?

This is Earth.

I'm an Earth Class robot. [Can Wall-E noises sound stubborn? Because they do] I've made headway. I'll succeed!

This looks nothing of the world Green Lantern Hal Jordan resides from.

It is earth.

[WAll-E turns to the feed again. Mankind, trashing planet. It's all there.]

It is my home.

[looksfine]

[Well, this was highly unexpected news.]

Perhaps...there is more than one planet with that name. The probability is not impossible.

...Probability? [That's beyond his purview.] Are there other humans where you are? Are they nice? Do they sing?

[looksfine]

There are. Some of them. I am not aware of the degree of vocal ability at this time.

[trashcompactor]

...but they must be happy all the time?

[looksfine]

I do not believe so.

[trashcompactor]

why not? They sing and dance, they can even fall in love.

[Wall-E looks sad] I would like that.

[looksfine]

[A slight tilt of the head]

You wish to sing and dance?

...Yes. [And fall in love, but that's a secret]
